Tonight (Saturday January 21) is Burnlesque, our annual SFSI fundraiser – and awareness-raiser – where we get great DJs, sexy dancers, sex nerds and more together to dance, drink and flirt with you on our friskiest night of the year. SFSI is where for nearly a decade I’ve been volunteering alongside, teaching with and working amongst the best and brightest sex educators in the world to bring free, accurate, confidential sex-positive sex ed to the world. SFSI is a nonprofit that has been around for over 30 years, and this yearly event helps us keep the phone lines open and emails flowing to anyone and everyone that needs sex, gender and orientation questions answered, from sex advice to sex emergencies, resources for help and community, and much more. We help people. People that often have no where else to turn.
This year’s Burnlesque theme is Animal Style, and flirty animals of all kinds are welcome to attend. We’ll have a sex advice booth and much more… I’ll be helping with setup and then arriving later to dance and pop into the advice booth to help out. Or spread the word. Tickets are $15.
The other event tonight is much racier – if you’d like something kinkier, Femina Potens is having an outrageous Prohibition-era themed bondage and wine evening – it’s Art of Restraint: Speakeasy. This is also a fundraiser for the amazing pro-porn, queer feminist gallery operated by Madison Young (disclosure: I am on the Board of Directors). Performers include Fivestar, Madame Butterfly, Monk, JP Robichaud, Coral Aorta, Danarama Bellino and Madison Young – and the event takes place in a stylish, spacious and private SOMA loft. I’ll be dropping in for a while to say hi and look at the beautiful ropework – these kinky superstars will not disappoint. Tickets are $50.
