Anyone try Stumble Porn and have any thoughts on it? I’m a curious girl.
Reader thoughts on Stumbleporn:
Hey Violet,
I was looking at your site as I do on a daily basis, and I saw that you had something on there about this new firefox plugin, Stumble Porn.
So I opened up my firefox browser, and installed the plugin, and tryed it out. it is ok, It takes you to some random porn sites, and to some youporn.com wannabes,
and inbetween taking you to sites it will bring up some random porn pics. Over all I would say it might be useful if you are looking for something to do on a boring sunday afternoon.
but it really isn’t worth a lot of effort either way, and least I don’t think it is.Have a Nice Day!

I’ve not installed the StumblePorn toolbar, although I am a long-time
StumbleUpon user, and yes I do occasionally use it to look for porn ;)A couple of thoughts :
1) I’m surprised that StumblePorn has not gotten a C&D letter from
StumbleUpon yet… clearly a case of passing off on the latter’s
popularity, IMHO.2) The lack of any kind of policy or TOS for StumbleUpon does disturb
me… who knows what they might decide to do with the information you’ve
given to them regarding your ‘preferences’?3) The strapline at the bottom of the StumblePorn web page says ‘Web
site contents © Copyright HWI 2007, All rights reserved’ but I suspect
that might not be the same firm that designs and maintains the toolbar.
No idea who they are, or what their motivation is, so why should I trust
them?4) Having a search toolbar in your browser window with the word ‘porn’
prominently displayed doesn’t seem like a sensible move for the person
doing some ‘extra-curricular activity’ where they might be
interrupted… at least with the SU toolbar you can quickly close the
tab and erase the search box contents.5) StumbleUpon have a system for marking content and topics that they
deem to be R-rated or X-rated, and users who bookmark such stuff have
their profiles marked accordingly. This seems to keep everyone happy
(for now), although I think they have removed links in the past that
they’ve deemed to be beyond the pale…Merry Christmas!
