- Mainstream porn is dead. To wit, at the recent porn awards and expo: “… what I can say, and what surprised me, was the extent to which there seemed to be a palpable nostalgia for a bygone era. Take for example the “State of the Industry” panel. There was not a single woman on a panel devoted to discussing where the industry is headed. Not one. Instead, the panel consisted of five men, all of whom were white and appeared to be at least in their fifties. Ironically, on a panel about the future of the industry, the “big boys”—as they were described in the program—really wanted to discuss DVDs, a market, which, by all accounts, has been dying a slow death for years.”

…annnd now I’ve actually read he article and see that the tagline is straight from there article…and a further Google search shows that there was an American play about somone making a stage production of Venus in Furs (confusing!)
Pardon my ignorance.
I think your wording of the Venus in Furs film item ay be a little misleading fr some readers, as it makes it sound a little like the film itself is going to be an adaptation of Venus in Furs and that Venus in Furs was originally a play, whereas my understanding is that the film is about someone launching a stage play of Venus in Furs and the original text is a novella.
Fine. Let’s go there. I don’t need to ask your personal opinion on this matter, because by omission you’ve already told me. I was not “fucking trying to troll” you. I was honestly surprised that you are talking about his new work, given his history. You say they’re news post, not endorsements. That’s crap. By sharing them, even without- especially without- commentary, you’re giving them attention and promoting them.
You stopped promoting X-Art last July because they were suing and attempting to shame people who allegedly torrented their work. If they were to make a documentary hosted by and starring James Deen, would you mention it and still pretend it’s not an endoresment?
@JulianDelphiki – links in the news posts are not endorsements. they are simply news items. if you are asking my personal opinion about the item, please do so and I will be happy to provide it. otherwise, don’t fucking try to troll me on my own blog.
I’m curious. Are you mentioning Polanski’s new work because you’re interested in the film’s topic, or because it’s being made by a convicted rapist? Or have you moved on, because like Chris Brown and Ben Roethlisberger, he’s very good at what he does?
Can’t wait to see the James Franco documentary! :)
thanks for another great list…
Let the industry wax nostalgic. More market share for the smart ones to grab up that are actually responsive to what users want, which is that one-of-a-kind content you can’t find on the tubes.
Gah…Venus in Fur is not an erotic “comedy.” I can see a lot of potential if Roman Polanski is shooting, it, but not if he turns it into a comedy. I’ll have to Google and see if he’s working with David Ives, the playwright.
