Self-portrait by my adorable new Flickr friend, Bathroom Adventures!
Before I follow up on the fallout from today’s column, before I give you the post featuring my picks for this weekend’s local Maker Faire in San Mateo (hint: I’ll be working there on location breaking *and* making things and livecasting, and seeing lotsa friends)… I’ve got some things to share:
* It’s an Onion headline but for real, which means funny and cringe-worthy at the same time — Reason Magazine reports that Greeks on the Isle of Lesbos are in court to attempt to force an LGBT organization to stop using the word “lesbian”. And they plan to take their campaign worldwide in an attempt to define who has the right to use the word “lesbian”. For reals. Does this mean my copy of “Horny Lesbian Anal Teens #67” is going to actually be worth something someday? Probably not. (thanks, Praemedia!)
* Do bulls really need steroids? Poor cows. I mean, what lucky cows!
* It’s not sex related, but one of our other pornographic fascinations: Scientology. Way dirtier than any interplanetary gangbang we can imagine. Slate has So You Want To Be a Scientologist, where they have a nice bit about the contract their cult members have to sign — omgwtf, a contract for a religion? That’s so Hollywood — and so creepy. Almost as creepy as the bit at the end of the piece where we can clearly see where Slate had once posted the contract and *redacted* it. They link to another source, but — why, Slate? Did someone make you take it down?
* I keep looking at the adorable pictures at Anastasia Pierce’s paysite. I don’t know her, and found her site in my wanderings, but damn she’s cute.
* It’s extremely sad and pointless that the DC Madam was forced into a position in her life where she felt the only option was to hang herself today. Deborah Palfrey was 52 and facing a 55-year sentence — for what!? Something worse than what Bush has done, what Enron got away with… ? No, she just provided services to elected officials (lawmakers) and all their cronies and was going to finish her life in a prison cell. Her services *should* be legal.
* Honestly, I was wondering how long it would take for this to happen: An online brothel, broadcasting live. Cool! My dear friends at Sex and Blogs write, “Big Sister is an upscale brothel in Prague. After having signed a release form accepting the establishment’s terms and conditions, the clients’ sexual adventures are recorded and broadcast live for the website’s tens of thousands subscribers. Guests are afforded the chance to become instant cyber porn stars.” As an aside, apparently photographer Hana Jakrlova has documented a tiny bit of the activities, featured as Big Sister in the 2008 Moscow Biennale (personal website is down, reads “blocked”).
* On Fleshbot today, we quickly pointed to Radar Online’s Working the Room: Gynecologists say the darndest things, where women self-disclose the funniest (and most bizarre) things their gynos have said to them with their feet in the stirrups. Like, “My former gyno in California didn’t say anything specific, but she did stick her finger in my ass without telling me she was going to beforehand.” Um, I usually like to be *kissed* first… Or, “My gynecologist recently told me I have an adorable uterus.” Awww…
Shame that Palfry thought her only way out was this way. I haven’t heard much of anything about the guys involved, AND I LIVE IN DC! The only news has been about her, wanting to know who her Johns were, and then once the news was out it was all back on her and her trial. The guys get off w/nothing, boys will be boys, and she loses her life over it.
On another note, what is with Bathroom Adventures and 95% of her pics being from the same position? Strange is all…
@ Jaques and quehanna — agreed. it’s way too convenient. sentenced, she did indeed have nothing to lose, like turning over all the information she might have had. convicted, she was (in a way) more powerful than ever.
Joe Pulcinella at Liberty Guys also has a nice post up about Deborah Palfrey (DC Madam) called “A Victimless Crime…Until the Government Steps In” — as Vince put it, “the terrible way the government treated this peaceful businesswoman”:

I read about her yesterday and it just seemed too convenient, for the politicos, that she had died. It’s not like our government hasn’t done it before. Because keeping up appearances is more important than life. Sickening.
Nobody seems to believe the DC madam actually committed suicide. It might be worth noting that she explicitly said that she wasn’t suicidal and that if she turned up dead, it was murder.
