I don’t blog too often about women’s rights in this space because I feel that it’s *ovbious* we’re humans, you know, like men, and should have the same rights. But much to my shock at the fact that I’m even writing this — now that abortion has become illegal in one of the United States, I’m adding this abortion resource to my permanent links. You’re not free if you don’t control your own body, period.
On a similar note, I’m blown away by a link Mark Pritchard sent me this morning, to the Blank Noise Project. This is a blog-a-thon happening today (March 7) by Indian women to raise awareness about “eve teasing”, a form of extreme public sexual harassment that happens to women in India all the time — from horrifically early ages, onward. Women and young girls are threatened for wearing jeans and t-shirts, their tits are grabbed and pinched by any man who wants to, and more (random link). The list of female Indian bloggers is really amazing to look at and their blogs are fascinating, from their excellence in English to the frightening stories of harassment they tell, and the other details fo their lives, like trying to decide daily fact from fiction with bird flu hysteria. And if you have a few more minutes to spend on Mark’s blog, check out his What Are Your Working On interviews with whipsmart New Yorker Audacia Ray (Waking Vixen) and prolific Bay Area erotica author (and sublime sex podcaster) Sage Vivant.
