I have to support Englands comment about being grossed out by too much foreskin. It was one of the reasons I pulled out on a relationship, I just couldn’t bear the look of it.
What I have also noticed is that uncircumcised men have a much harder time cumming wearing condoms so often finish off by hand which I also got to find very boring so I have happily gone back to a cut man who can finish off with me.
Someone might have been reading Kawabata, before browsing Kink’s website. ;)
It’s a beautiful and weird story, if you haven’t read it.
As a bi male, it seems to me that younger guys are more likely to be uncircumsized
I know I wish i wasnt circumcised, fortunately, I suspect advances in regenerative medcine will make it quite readily reversible in the near future, compared to getting fingertips to regrow, a foreskin should be easy.
Anecdotally, I know that more than one partner has told me that I’m the first uncircumcised man she’s ever slept with. But, of course, that relates to circumcision rates back when my cohort was wee babies; my impression is that they have been dropping since then.
@tim1724 – these numbers are fascinating. Can you share the source link? I’m violet at tinynibbles.com if you want to share them discreetly.
My generalizations about Americans and circumcision come from working with a national sex crisis hotline (also email) and sex ed nonprofit for the past ten years – whose students are professional educators, such as nurses and Planned Parenthood workers. So I’m aware that I’m reflecting domestic questions and attitudes, not necessarily practices.
It would not surprise me to see circumcision numbers drop over time. When my co-teachers present the circumcision talk, the students are always deeply affected when they realize what circumcision is, and does.
Matthew – :D
Violet: Keep in mind that circumcision rates on the west coast, in California in particular, have been much, much lower than much of the US for decades. So we don’t tend to see as much pro-circumcision propaganda as the rest of the country. Recently circumcision rates in much of the country have been dropping, but they’re still really high in certain areas, such as the midwest. When talking to people from outside California, I’ve been surprised at the amount of “eew, you aren’t circumcised” responses, or at least I was before I looked up the numbers.
A quick Google search got me the numbers for 2005. Nationwide circumcision rate is 56%. West coast is only 31%, whereas in the south it’s 56%, northeast is 65%, and the midwest has a whopping 75% of its baby boys circumcised.
Being uncut; which is what I am, I see very little issues with it. Unless you’re one of those guys who have alot of foreskin, then I can understand why some women would be grossed out. But if there’s one thing I love about being uncut is how much pleasure we feel when we have intercourse. At the same time…it’s also hell, since we can also end up on the….short side. There’s also the whole cleaning process…won’t go into detail, you get the picture.
Actually, I found the article more balanced than I’d have expected from CNN. But I’ve got my own angle on it; I reckon it’s related to the lack of adoption of the metric system. Once you folk in the US figure out how to correctly and accurately measure things, I suspect the realisation that guys don’t need bits of them lopping off at birth will follow.
I don’t know if I’m now really realizing how anti-foreskin my culture is, or if it’s as slanted if an article as I think it is. When Thomas and I co-teach sex ed, we present the known positives of being uncircimcised and the concerns people have about cut vs. uncut. To try and give balanced points in the sex information. That’s what journalists should be doing, right? We get so many questions (from Americans – our SFSI hotline and students are majority American) about how to give pleasure to uncut penises. The US is really in the dark about uncut cock.
But I kept waiting for CNN to balance out the anti-foreskin POV with some reasons that people would want to be uncut. There are many.
Because in the UK (and I suspect most other countries) we generally only circumcise as and when for specific medical reasons, I remain utterly baffled by the prevalence – and debate thereon – in the US.
As to the man on fire… there are too many obvious gags waiting to be made, but I rather suspect it’s too soon. Although I do wonder how long it will take for some so-called-journalist to put a brimstone angle on it and label it just desserts…
