What a fabulous party, full of warmth, fun, the most delicious absinthe, a touch of decadence, people I deeply care about and things that went “boom”. After a very, very painful year it was the perfect close. I’d like to thank the following sponsors for enthusiastic contributions and proud gift bag donations: Laughing Squid, Good Vibes, Helio, Swirl on Castro, Blue Front Cafe, Twisted Monk, Pretty Things Press, Cleis Press, Tantus. Technical support: Jonathan Moore, The Jof.
…and yes, the bungalow blogging stopped when my trusty ’05 iBook got a glass of absinthe spilled on it — yet it was immediately pulled apart and dried in front of the heater. Blogging from it right now!
Scott Beale has a great post on Laughing Squid with links to many photostreams — and I was thrilled that he brought his camera (mixing work and play for a change).
The quick-and-dirty blogger bungalow blog and flickr stream was a success and people played with it all night! Such a terrific way to make a party more global and contributory. I’m going to keep the blog and stream live and accessible for whenever someone wants to stop by and make a post or upload a photo. The webcam got going for a minute, but with all the champagne and a pooped-out power supply for someone’s laptop, it didn’t happen. Next time.

Best quote of the night: “refill drinks and run back out. violet in stilettos, tearing down the stairs with roman candles under her arm…”.
The downside is that our lovely and sweet housegirl Ruby O’Ghosts had her bag nicked on on Oakland BART platform on her way home. She lost her tips and scratch, her wallet (ID, credit cards, etc.), those lovely red high heels and her new digicam. I’m seeing if she has a PayPal account, and if not, I’ll post one here for anyone who wants to help make her new year a little better :(
Just a few of my favorite NYE 2008 photos are after the jump… Not embeddable, but I love this photo of me and my best pal Thomas Roche.
