Review: Eon McKai’s On My Dirty Knees (and exclusive gallery)

Some of you might remember back in December when I got to be the first to show the trailer for Eon McKai‘s then-upcoming film “On My Dirty Knees” plus a few on-set photos he’d shot while filming. I’ve been following along with Eon’s process with the film, and after his unforgettable “Doll Underground” I have to say that Eon has pushed porn (especially mainstream porn) to a place that is really quite remarkable. He recently sent me a copy of the new Vivid Alt film, and now it’s out. Honestly, it’s incredible.

Eon also personally emailed me exclusive, explicit photos from the film, which you can see after the jump.

It’s been a long time since I’ve watched a porn film and gotten turned on — while being attracted to the performers (almost embarrassingly much) and feeling on the edge of *emotional* attraction at the same time. It’s panty-wetting and awkward and thrilling all at the same time. It’s also not like any other porn film you’ll ever see. Ever.

Can you jack off to this film? Yes. Absolutely.
Will you go back to scenes for repeats? Oh yes.
Will you want to watch it with a lover? Totally.
Are all the scenes hot? Yes, but each for their own reasons. Each scene is very different.
What do the performers look like? The really hot young hip boy or girl at the coffee shop.
Will it leave you with images and feelings that last for days? Yes.
Is it a “feel good” film? Not really. It’s a snapshot of life.

“On My Dirty Knees” is a very modest film. It is more like a series of tones than a narrative. Basically, Eon has been making bleeding-edge porn for a couple years now in a very dated industry that really doesn’t get what the fuck he’s doing, but his films sell better than anything else in mainstream porn. And mainstream porn films are not selling. Plus, “the industry” has gender dynamics that are caricatures of even themselves, which translates bizarrely into real life, into Eon’s life. So this film is essentially Eon’s observations about how girls travel through life differently than boys. And through the lens of the porn industry, how us girls make our choices; how we choose to fuck up our lives, or not.

The nitty gritty: Sex acts include one of the hottest blowjobs I’ve ever seen, male-female cunnilingus, no girl-girl, few sex acts “by the numbers”, everyone is shaved, both girls in the film are tattooed and pierced, at least one of the guys is so scorching hot I almost asked Eon about him (but I won’t), there’s no anal, just a tiny bit of spitting and one second of choking, all the comeshots are aimed at the girl’s mouths (which I happen to be a fan of, but it’s not for everyone), and there is a lot of kissing and full-body shots during sex. There are plenty of close-ups, but far more full shots, which I love. There are gorgeous big cocks, and the women are all-natural, as in, no boob jobs. And no blonds. The sex in every singe scene is packed with chemistry and seriously arousing.

Also, Eon did something he usually doesn’t do: the first scene is with a real-life couple (and omg, it shows, they are so adorable together), and the second scene (my favorite) is with a pair who used to be a couple but reunited for the scene — and their chemistry is electric, as is the awkwardness, which is part of the scene.

I really liked how in the director’s commentary Eon talks about RapidShare and 4chan, and how all the post-altporn performers are coming from social networking sites because they see altporn and they identify with it, whereas in the time before we made and named ‘altporn’ (the online subculture, or anticulture, that Eon and I participate in) there was nothing for people outside the old mainstream porn standards of beauty to sexually identify with. He also jokes that if you’re listening to him, you bought the DVD and you are a rare person, indeed.

The music is scored by one band, Heshen, but there is no music during the sex scenes and we get to hear all the natural sounds, which is another layer of sexy.

The essence of “On My Dirty Knees” is that Andy San Dimas (who in real life does not live in LA) is a post-alt chick who has gone to beauty school and a bit of college, but just wants to fuck her way out of her hometown. She gets a nice office job, but it doesn’t pay the bills. Violet Skye is doing the same thing and they sort of “crew up” the way girls in porn tend to do, though Skye only gets as far as being a “Micro Fame Fucker” (Eon’s porn/filmic commentary on empty Twitter microfame) while San Dimas goes to sex clubs, and at the end does nasty POV porn, which is also hot. But that’s the contrast: it begins with romance and sweetness and ends with straight-up (but truly jack-offable) porn — that also happens to be filmed so stylishly it’s almost a commentary on POV porn’s potential.

I won’t go into detail about all the scenes, but a couple are especially great. The first scene between Andy and her boyfriend Vin Vericose is incredible; they play and laugh and have fun on a pedestrian bridge over a freeway, then run off into the trees for sex. It’s adorable and the chemistry is on fire. Her BF is sort of a hesher and amazingly has a Napalm Death t-shirt and thick glasses, making him the world’s luckiest (and possibly most well-hung) nerd. San Dimas has a Pac Man bow in her hair. It starts with the hottest blowjob I’ve seen in a long time. The whole encounter is great, and Eon said that the locations were somewhat borrowed and they were a bit nervous out there filming the whole thing. Edgy, public.

The second scene is my favorite: the boy Dane is insanely cute. Like, boys like this, I’ve never seen one in porn and I never expected to. He looks like a gorgeous code geek. Shy, sweet, awkward — and hung, and a little dominant when things start to heat up. This scene between him and Violet Skye is what had me riveted. It’s an indescribable moment of attraction and awkwardness that lasts and lasts… And don’t forget that as a director, Eon’s favorite, sexy parts of the film are all the things that lead up to the sex, and this is it. All those moments of um, can I make you macaroni and cheese, up to her putting his hand on her beautiful gothy breasts, to his uber-shy cat and mouse trying to get Skye to take off her pants… Wow.

The rest of the scenes are crazy-hot, though they get progressively less emotionally engaging, which is its own kind of turn-on. But I don’t want to spoil it for you, and this is turning into a novel.

So look after the jump for the photos Eon sent me, plus ones I snagged form his photostream from his on-set pics. You can get or stream “On My Dirty Knees” here or you can torrent it. Just watch it. And here’s the trailer:

  1. I just watched this film last night and it is Eon’s best work by far. I was totally blown away and every scene fucking rocks so hard I had a perma-clitty hard-on the whole time. I <3 On My Dirty Knees. Great review BTW! You pretty well said it all :)

  2. I found and learned about Eon, Alt-Vivid and Andy San Dimas via twitter and been looking forward to get this final product I’ve been hearing about for sometime. This review only solidifies my decision on getting this. This type of work I think fills something important, it shows a creative, styled and different look at porn. Something free (home made) and mainstream can’t replicate.

  3. The timing here is odd because I just discovered Eon McKai last week and have been thinking about looking up more stuff by him. What I’ve seen of his, I’ve really enjoyed; “alt” is a great way to term it not just in terms of alternative culture, but also along the lines that the way McKai’s projects come together are a robust and healthy alternative to what I guess you’d call mainstream porn (this is probably a common convention but gimme some slack, I’m new to the party).

Also have to admit that this is the first time I’ve gotten over myself and commented on/added a sex blog to my RSS reader. It came with all the social anxieties you’d expect a sexblog virgin to carry; “what if someone sees it”, “what if someone tracks back from my blog to this comment and it reflects on my character” etc etc. Realized I shouldn’t care.

    Thanks for posting this!
