It’s the Wolverine edition because this week on the gay male blogs, pretty much the most talked-about stroke material was the leaked trailer for “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” in which Hugh Jackman gave me every excuse in the world to get that bicycle tire repair kit and get to work on my Hugh Jackman Ultra Love Doll (“You thought adamantium was hard!!!”) for my weekend. I was the tiniest bit drunk when I saw X-Men 3 – when Jean Grey ripped off Wolverine’s belt with her mind I jumped up and said “HOLY SHIT I WOULD SO DO THAT!”
I also seem to be in that small minority of fans who liked X-Men 3, it gave me all the chaotic, massive mutant-on-mutant action I had always wanted, I love John Powell’s score and I actually liked Wolverine’s arc with Jean Grey, him having to kill the woman he’s loved unrequited for years…
I loved X-Men III for all the CGI San Francisco scenes. I hated it because in the last scene, by all standards of logic and physics, Wolverine’s pants should have been off. I felt cheated.
Looks like it’ll be good, hopefully it’s better than X-Men III.
