Now, I’m not sure if “maruku” is the name of the artist or a genre tag — correct me if you know, please — but the two-page gallery of maruku desktop wallpapers (konachan.com; large image files) has kept me entertained throughout my gloomy day. All of the characters are cat girls with cute ears and tails, and there’s all kinds of imaginative penetration going on (snakes, tentacles, candycanes, etc). For computer geeks, this has to be the nastiest one ever and I giggle seeing that this one is called “symmetrical docking.” I really love how they’re often smiling and the art is just fabulous. I researched a bit and saw that one in the gallery had been pulled from Galge.com — so, of course, I found the hyooge collection of explicit erotic wallpapers they’ve got for free downloading, too. More than just kitties; lots of sexy bondage images and pretty much anything else you can image (even basic, white pantied pin-ups, oh my).
Mystery solved, this is pretty much conclusive proof:

Maruku is listed as an artist:

Under the “maruku” tag, not all the characters have animal ears. Since there’s no obvious connection between the pictures, I can only conclude the tag “maruku” describes the artist.
Also, a member of moe.imouto.org, a site similar to Konachan, lists ‘maruku’ as one of his/her favorite ‘artists’.

And I found a more complete “maruku” set at Danbooru (supposedly the original anime wallpaper site):

that’s what I got too; I also found a Japanese (non-sex) illustrator calling himself Maruku on forum giving an anime how-to… so I’m leaning toward it being the name of the artist.
From my quick research ‘Maruku’ appears to be an Australian Aboriginal arts group, or a fairly uncommon name.
