25 years of Vivid: Porn company now way older than its stars

The site *just* went live (breaking, yup), and the opening for the retrospective was on Valentine’s Day (Saturday the 14th, in LA). I actually like Vivid as a stand-out among all the other boring major mainstream companies — then again, I’m biased because I think Steven Hirsch has been unafraid to take chances on new media and distinctively un-porny subcultures (unlike his colleagues). I don’t know the dude, but I do know a lot of his directors and stars at Vivid Alt — one I even consider family (with leanings toward incest), and several performers and directors like Andy San Dimas (sound alert) and Kim Kane, who are like my dream girlfriends.

All hail Vivid Alt, and congrats to Vivid for 25 years of good old fashioned American pornography.

As I said, those who were unable to be at the opening of Vivid’s photography exhibit opening last Saturday (“All American Porn: 25 Years of Erotic Photography from Vivid Entertainment”) at the World of Wonder Storefront Gallery in L.A., all of the photos are now available on this website, among many other goodies (25yearsofvivid.com).
