As a blogger, the introduction of Flickr video has been a fun toy; great quality and easily adjustable player embed sizes, fast loading, and it’s nice to have wee videos to pop in here and there. But I didn’t use it when it first came out because there was no way to set the content filters — a red flag, no matter what you were uploading or posting. I like to know if my video might be for so-called “mature” audiences, that I can set that option. As time went by, Flickr changed that, so now you can set your video as “safe” or “moderate” but while you can click the little radio button for “explicit” you get a warning that Flickr does not allow “explicit” video — though you can still click the button. It exists. Anyway, with that in mind, a friend pointed me to Flickr’s video content guidelines. Read the screencap closely.
What does it mean that “your beautiful wife must not be moving”? Is it like, this is not my beautiful house, and my beautiful wife — hey, why isn’t she moving? I joke, and Flickr has helped me with their guidelines in the past, but what a very strange thing to say. To that end, here are some beautiful unmoving wives:

I do — at least half of my images are hosted offshore. last night I almost spent the evening backing everything up in both directions, just in case. I have over 6,000 photos in both locations…
I wonder why Flickr’s censorship of ‘unsafe’ in some countrys + it being owned by Yahoo! (e.g.-> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shi_Tao) isn’t reason enough to you (and many others, but you’re the first I’m asking) to host your pictures somewhere else.
so animated husbands are ok? flickr’s lol-speak language is cute, but probably needs to be more precise when it comes to their weird content TOS.
Heaven forbid the beautiful wife move, because everyone knows 24 frames per second is way above the speed limit for art.
Assholes.
Flickr’s guidelines make a lot more sense if you read them aloud in your Hannibal Lecter voice.
But then again, doesn’t everything?
this is by far the best blog post i’ve seen in months.
i was thinking dead wives as well when i read that “your beautiful wife must not be moving” as well.
ooohhh flickr. your copy editor needs some help.
