The transhumanists are at it again: over on h+ Magazine, they caught wind of the nerds + sex virus we’ve got over here at TinyNibbles and just posted The Geek’s Guide To Getting Girls: A Biology Nerd Studies Spring Break. Sadly it’s not really a guide, but it is a pretty entertaining read. I think I should probably write that guide, but that’s a topic for another post… Let me know what you think of this one, it’s got a *lot* of generalizing about male + female sexuality in it — here’s a snip:

They published “Women’s Sexual Strategies: The Evolution of Long-Term Bonds and Extrapair Sex,” a study that tells us what women want, who they boink, when, and why, plus why they make seduction more complicated than if/then/else constructs in open source Fortran. We are the first generation of men to have scientific access to the unconscious motives of the human female. Science nerds are hereby empowered to get girlfriends. Ka-ching!
Pillsworth and Haselton assembled over 250 academic papers on such diverse topics as hunter-gatherer societies, bird and mammal behavior, and cruel psychological tricks on college students. They compared these against blood tests, sperm counts, immune responses, pheromone output, and vaginal fluid viscosity, then broke it all down to a few basic principles even an average Joe can understand. If/then/else is easy in fortran, people are way harder to understand
Sounds about right to me. I was thinking of Jersey Shore and the girls on that show that look for guys for one night stands. They wanted overly good looking men with no other positive non-physical features.
But from my experience, all these guides for guys to get girls all fail. Since you can’t fake confidence 24/7 (you need to be confident 24/7 because you can run into a potential mate in a course of the day), all guides need to teach is to be confident 24/7. If a guy looks like a mess, but an alpha, their looks don’t matter as much, or at least less.
