Sunday nibbles

* This is my 3000th post! Cheers! Thank you for being here with me!

* In what is one of the most fascinating, taboo and surprising articles I’ve ever read, Scientific American looks at data which suggests that people who have sex with animals could be considered to have their own sexual orientation. It’s an uncomfortable subject, and if you click through to read Animal Lovers: Zoophiles Make Scientists Rethink Human Sexuality, be warned that you may find the content disturbing. Which is something I never thought I’d say about SciAm. (scientificamerican.com)

* Yes yes — about a dozen people sent me XKCD’s Porn For Women comic, and I *love* it. It’s almost as fun as Google Results for Various Phrases, which is much dirtier. (xkcd.com)

* Bravo, Cory Silverberg: if like me, you love JimmyJane and LoveHoney UK, or have an interest in the world of sex toy business and adult businesses outside the porn industry, don’t miss Taking One Step Forward and Two Steps Back in the Sex Toy Industry. (sexuality.about.com, disclosure: JimmyJane is a TinyNibbles sponsor)

* I read the BBC News story Historic sex toys sold for £3,600 at Essex auction with humor, but the wooden dildos made me stop and stare. (news.bbc.co.uk, thanks Saskia)

* I know, finally: pin-ups for heavy metal dudes (and dudettes who like death metal babes). Jeremy Saffer recently shot nudes in the style of heavy metal “corpsepaint” fantasy girls, and just looking at them rocks harder than Judas Priest. (jeremysaffer.com, via The Daily Swarm, thanks Praemedia)

* Another compelling article, which some may find uncomfortable: The transgressive transvestite art of surrealist artist Pierre Molinier. “His legs are encased in black stockings, secured to a suspender belt; his waist is constricted by a tight corset. On his head he wears a veil and a black mask. His fingers press a switch, a shutter clicks and Pierre Molinier, the forgotten Surrealist, is caught on camera forever.” You can see explicit samples of his work here.
