Relax, Everyone: It’s Just Porn

I’m sitting here feeling genuinely irritated that Newsweek isn’t allowing comments on their book review of “Pornland” even though they are making it seem like they are. They do that bullshit cookie thing that makes you think your comment was accepted, so lame, so typical. I registered and left a really nice, balanced comment. But I’ve been waiting for hours to see it approved, and it looks like they’re pulling a bait and switch. “Pornland” is by the founder of Stop Porn Culture (FYI: that link is a much-needed expose on the organization).

We’re getting overwhelmed right now with a lot of media outlets repeating soundbites which tell us that porn is bad and wrong. What’s missing is context. My pro-porn information site Our Porn, Ourselves just got a fresh porn in the news update; the pro-porn movement is exploding while we take back the right to look (especially as women) while the Facebook page just crested 3K members.

I give traffic here to porn that features performers enjoing themselves. This has many permutations — not just one narrow definition. And the point of these posts, in addition to hopefully getting you off, is to validate the celebration of explicit erotic imagery for pleasure.
