Sex News: Daniel Tosh rape jokes, Anonymous vs pedos, depraved penguins, Dark Knight XXX

  • The controversy is this: a woman went to a comedy club, the comedian went on a “rape jokes are super funny” rant, she spoke up, and Daniel Tosh said it would be funny if she got gang raped right then and there. Her account covers it, his response on Twitter is that he was “misquoted” out of context – so this is still her fault – and the whole thing is as inexcusable as trying to convince a crowd that Jerry Sandusky was actually a really funny guy who was simply misinterpreted out of context. Update: Comedy club says she’s exaggerating (IMO even their side of the story is awful).

  • While it’s important to note that Anonymous’s targeting of pedo websites is not new (see previous coverage of their pedo attacks here), they announced last weekend that they are again are ramping up to take out more pedophile sites. Their previous campaigns have been extremely successful. Operation PedoChat is once again targeting pedophiles; Anon’s crosshairs are currently aimed at some 100 websites.

  • Accounts of unusual sexual activities among penguins, observed a century ago by a member of Captain Scott’s polar team, are finally being made public. Details, including “sexual coercion”, recorded by George Murray Levick were considered so shocking that they were removed from official accounts.

  • An Indiana man was formally charged Tuesday with tricking 10 teenagers in nine different states into performing sex acts on webcam that he recorded and used to coerce them into making more sexually explicit videos. U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett called it a “systematic scheme to victimize hundreds of children.” The victims were nine boys and one girl, all between the ages of 12 and 16, according to the charges.

  • The height of a bicycle’s handlebars can affect the sexual health of female riders, a new U.S. study suggests. The study found that placing the handlebar lower than the seat was associated with increased pressure on the genital region and decreased sensation, which reduced ability to detect vibration.

  • Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski made the cover of ESPN The Magazine’s “body issue” that will hit newsstands on Friday. The fourth annual special issue is billed by ESPN as a “celebration of the athletic form” and will feature 27 world-class athletes, all of whom posed nude for the issue – we only wish they had the cojones to show them full-frontal I take that back: holy yum, look at all the photos! • A Coquitlam, B.C., RCMP officer is under investigation by the force for possible misconduct after alleged “violent and pornographic photos” of the officer were posted on adult social networking site Fetlife. After CBC News asked the RCMP if the officer was under investigation, Supt. Ray Bernoties replied on June 27 that the officer’s involvement with the website, “was deemed to be adult consensual activity during which the implicated officer was not representing himself as a member of the RCMP, thus it did not meet the threshold for a code of conduct investigation.”

  1. Regarding the ESPN “body issue”: Violet – I’m disappointed you didn’t have a comment on the particular muscle development mentioned by the fencer that’s allegedly useless for anything other than holding his saber.

  2. What I want to know is, will it be easy to find the ESPN covers with the male athletes in bookstores and elsewhere this year? Even in the Bay Area, all we seem to get are the female nude covers…when I’ve asked in the past, most bookstore sellers were unaware that male versions even EXISTED. I’ve had to call ESPN’s back issue office (staffed by a very nice and understanding woman, at least) to special-order them the last two years…let’s see if everybody gets with the program this time!

PS Here’s a Kindle rec for you, Violet (since I’m not on Twitter to respond there)…my favorite book so far this year is Eden Winters’ DIVERSION. It’s great as a thriller, a buddy comedy, and a hot m/m romance, with the most memorable antihero I’ve seen in a while. I didn’t think I’d like it, since I thought it would be too dark for me, but I absolutely adored it. (The final showdown does resolve a little quickly, but that’s a minor quibble).

  3. Well of course the bodies are Olympic athletes are ones we want to see – they are supposedly ‘the best of the best of the best’ – the top 0.001% of the human race – and so exotic. Nice photos, of course, but we still have to remember that they are an ideal that most people will never come near.

Thanks once again for all the links, Violet.
